“There’s no question that Ziegler takes the tango to levels of sophistication and refinement probably undreamed of by Piazzolla” - Chicago Tribune

A consummate ensemble featuring piano, bandoneon, cello and double bass, the Pablo Ziegler Classical Tango Quartet breathes with nuance and refinement, at once subtle and utterly expressive. Latin Grammy-winner Pablo Ziegler, the pre-eminent living member of Astor Piazzolla’s groundbreaking ensemble, leads the group in exquisite arrangements of his own compositions as well as the music of tango legends like J.C. Cobian and Piazzolla.

Pablo Ziegler - Piano
Hector Del Curto - Bandoneon
Jisoo OK - Cello
Pedro Giraudo - Double Bass

This residency is cosponsored by Latin American and Latino Studies.

Residency Events

Across campus, all events open to the public

“Tango is about the land, nostalgia and communication. It is about two people moving as one to express that which is tragic, sensual and sometimes mischievous. Tango requires us to give the best part of ourselves to one another.” Fernanda Ghi, dancer.

Some of the events will feature dancers, some musicians, and some will have both. The Saturday concert will open with a short dance by Fernanda Ghi and Guillermo Merlo, followed by a full length concert with Pablo Ziegler and his Classical Tango Quartet.
